Nebula Compression: Shrink Image Files Without Sending Them Anywhere
# Nebula Compression: Shrink Image Files Without Sending Them Anywhere
A modern phone photo can be eight megabytes. Email attachment limits, upload forms and chat apps all disagree with that. The usual fix is a website that asks you to upload the picture to a stranger's server — which is a strange thing to do with a photo of your passport or your child.
Nebula Compression does the job on your device instead.
How it works
1. Open Games & Utilities → Nebula Compression. 2. Pick an image from your device. 3. Drag the quality slider and watch the resulting file size change. 4. Download the smaller version.
The original is untouched — you get a new, lighter copy.
Finding the right setting
- For chat and messaging, a moderate reduction is usually invisible and cuts the size dramatically.
- For a document upload with a strict size cap, push the slider until you clear the limit, then check the preview stays readable.
- For printing, compress lightly or not at all.
Nothing leaves your device
The image is processed locally in the app. It is not uploaded, not stored, and not seen by us. That matters most for exactly the files people compress most often: identity documents, receipts, screenshots of private conversations.
Where to find it
Games & Utilities → Nebula Compression. Free for every signed-in user, with no daily limit, in the app and on the website.
